How Does The Screen Printing Process Work?

The concept of t shirt screen printing is one that is redefining looks for clothing as well as the definition that comes with graphics. If you are looking into screen printing for your own needs, then you can begin to define the look by first understanding how this process works. The several concepts that are intertwined with screen printing can help to define the style that you are interested in while providing a new set of components for the perfect look for your clothing.

The main pieces of technology that are used for screen printing starts with a basic screen that clothing is placed in. This is usually made of mesh and has a frame around it that is made of wood or aluminum. The mesh is able to compliment the making of the picture because the cover is made of nylon material, which helps to create a specific texture when placing the graphics on t-shirts. After this is set up, there is an image setter that is placed on the material which contains the graphic that is to be printed. This basic set-up then works to build the image desired.

After the film is meshed with the material, then the screen will be placed together on both sides so it is able to absorb the image being set. This is then placed under an ultraviolet light known as a print down frame. This will help the image to move onto the material with a clear and defined look. Once the light has moved across the image, there is then the need to wash the material so the extra emulsion from the light doesn’t stick to the material. This first part of the process will give an outline to the image that is being placed and will help the material to create definition and lines.

The last part to creating the screen print is to fit the screen on a press. Ink is placed on top of the screen to provide specific coloring to the screen print. A squeegee, which includes a rubber blade that ‘wipes’ the ink, is pulled over the screen as well. As this pulls over the screen, it will move the different sets of ink onto the surface. This is done repetitively to make sure that the print is able to get all the ink within the lines of the image, while providing a clear and concise look for the screen print.

By the end of this process, you will be able to have a clear and defined image on your t-shirt or piece of clothing. Unlike other types of prints, this particular process is one that allows m ore clarity with the graphic images, as well as a specific texture that occurs from the procedure that is followed. This will then lead to a complete look and defined image for the t-shirt design you are looking into.
